After acquiring my Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies, I had the opportunity to work in emergency medicine for 8 years. It was here that I met a handsome paramedic who had recently served in the United States Marine Corps. Once our colleagues played matchmaker, we began to realize we ended up in the Verde Valley for a reason. We would marry 6 years later and start our family of 5.
I had a traumatic hiking injury after moving to Sedona which delayed my PA career. A helicopter transport and hospitalization taught me to be a patient, endure fear, suffering, and uncertainty. It equipped me with so much empathy, for which I am grateful. I spent 5 years working in interventional pain management. I was passionate about improving patients’ quality of life and outlook.
After the birth of our first child, I accepted a position in urology. There, I spent over 9 years developing relationships with patients who became my family. That rapport with patients is what I wish to achieve in primary care. The interaction between patient and provider is a symbiotic relationship in which both parties benefit. My 18 years as a Physician Assistant have afforded me many wonderful patients.
We are thrilled to call the Verde Valley our home. We love to camp and explore all that Arizona has to offer. Scuba diving is a hobby I never appreciated growing up in the midwest but I sure love to dive. music has been a very huge passion in my life. Fortunately, this has been embraced by my family and we all love to share music togther. My family and I love spending time in our garden, canning vegetables, and tending to our chickens.
Teaching is the most important aspect of medicine. unfortunately, medicine today, leaves little time for the provider to empower their patients with knowledge, as opposed to prescriptions. i will take the time to teach you what you need to know to achieve your health goals.
